Common questions
What gradient should a ramp be?
Shallower is always better, and landings are needed at intervals on longer ramps. A ramp built too steep cannot be used unaided, which defeats the point of building it.
Do vehicle ramps need anti skid?
On anything steep, yes. Gradient plus wet weather is exactly where tyres lose grip, and it is the most common place we are asked to add high friction surfacing after the event.
Where does the water go at the bottom of a ramp?
Into a channel, if the ramp is designed properly. A ramp without drainage at the base funnels water straight into whatever is at the bottom.
How soon can we drive on it?
Tarmac can normally take traffic once it has cooled, which is usually the same day. We will confirm at the time based on thickness and temperature rather than making you wait unnecessarily.
Do we have to close the whole area?
No. We work in sections or overnight so most of the site stays usable. For retail and distribution sites that is how we work as standard.
Is a site survey and quotation free?
Yes. Surveys and quotations are free and carry no obligation. We normally survey within a few working days and return a fixed price against a written scope on the same day.
Do you cover the whole of the UK?
Yes, and Ireland. Regional gangs cover single sites and national portfolios, including rolling surfacing programmes across several regions at once.
