Accessibility statement

We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or reduced motion settings.

What we have done

• Keyboard navigation. Every link, button, form field and accordion can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and the focus outline is clearly visible.
• Screen readers. Pages use proper heading structure, one H1 per page, labelled form fields and descriptive alternative text on images that carry meaning. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
• Colour contrast. Body text and headings are tested against WCAG 2.1 AA contrast requirements. We do not rely on colour alone to convey meaning.
• Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations, scrolling effects and autoplaying video are disabled automatically.
• Text sizing. Text scales with your browser settings and the layout reflows without loss of content up to 200% zoom.
• Touch targets. Buttons and links on mobile meet the recommended minimum size, so they can be operated without precision.
• Video. Background video is silent, decorative and hidden from assistive technology. No information is conveyed only through video.
• Skip link. A skip to content link is the first item on the page for keyboard and screen reader users.

How we test

We test with keyboard only navigation, browser zoom, and automated contrast and structure checks. We are not able to test with every combination of device and assistive technology, so if you hit a problem we have missed, we would genuinely like to know.

Known limitations

• Some project photographs carry short alternative text describing the work rather than an exhaustive description of the image.
• The service and project carousels are operated by buttons and arrow keys. If you find them difficult to use, every service is also reachable from the footer and from the individual service pages.
• Where we link to external websites, we cannot control their accessibility.

Standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We believe the site substantially meets that standard, and where it falls short we will fix it.

Accessibility of our work

This statement covers the website. Accessibility on the ground matters more to us: ramps, dropped kerbs, tactile paving, step free routes, accessible parking bays and compliant handrails are part of what we build. If access on your site is a problem, that is something we can survey and fix.
