Cookie policy
Last updated 10 September 2026
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Some are needed for the site to work; others tell the site owner how the site is being used. This page explains which ones we use and how to refuse them.
The short version. This site sets almost no cookies of its own. The only ones that matter come from Google, if you have accepted analytics and advertising cookies, and they tell us which adverts produce enquiries. You can refuse them and the site works exactly the same.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They do not identify you personally and are not used for marketing.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | VCNY Group | Keeps a form submission working across pages. Expires when you close the browser. |
| Consent preference | VCNY Group | Remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page. |
Analytics
These help us understand which pages people read and where they stop reading, so we can improve the site. The information is aggregated.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors and sessions. Typically expires after 2 years. |
Advertising
If you arrived from a Google advertisement, these tell us that the advert produced an enquiry. That is how we work out which advertising is worth paying for.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Links an enquiry back to the advert that produced it. Typically expires after 90 days. |
| gclid (in the URL) | Google Ads | Passed with your enquiry so a resulting job can be matched back to the advert. |
How to refuse or remove cookies
You can refuse non essential cookies when you first arrive, and change your mind at any time.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser allows this, and the help section of your browser explains how. Blocking all cookies may affect other websites more than it affects this one.
To opt out of Google Analytics across all websites, Google provides a browser add on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Does refusing cookies stop you contacting us?
No. Every form, phone number and email address on the site works exactly the same whether you accept cookies or not. Refusing them only means we cannot tell which advert brought you here.
More information
How we handle the personal information you send us is covered in our privacy policy. Any questions, email admin@vcny.co.uk.
