Common questions
What thickness of tarmac do we need?
It depends entirely on the traffic. A staff car park and an HGV yard need very different constructions, and quoting the thinner one to win on price is why so many surfaces fail in three years. We specify for the actual use and tell you what we have allowed.
How long does new surfacing take?
A typical commercial car park is a few days once the ground is ready. Where the construction has to be built from formation it takes longer, and we will give you a real programme at survey.
Can you lay in winter?
Within limits. Asphalt has to be laid and compacted while hot, so cold and wet conditions shorten the window. We would rather move a date than lay material that cannot be compacted properly.
How soon can we drive on it?
Tarmac can normally take traffic once it has cooled, which is usually the same day. We will confirm at the time based on thickness and temperature rather than making you wait unnecessarily.
Do we have to close the whole area?
No. We work in sections or overnight so most of the site stays usable. For retail and distribution sites that is how we work as standard.
Is a site survey and quotation free?
Yes. Surveys and quotations are free and carry no obligation. We normally survey within a few working days and return a fixed price against a written scope on the same day.
Do you cover the whole of the UK?
Yes, and Ireland. Regional gangs cover single sites and national portfolios, including rolling surfacing programmes across several regions at once.
