Common questions
Does more texture always mean safer?
No. Beyond a point, texture traps dirt and becomes impossible to clean, which in a food area creates a different problem. There is a balance and we specify for it.
What about detergent and cleaning chemicals?
Detergent films are a major cause of slips, and some cleaning regimes leave a residue that undoes the benefit. We look at how the floor is cleaned, not just what it is made of.
Is treatment enough, or do we need drainage work?
If water is standing rather than draining, drainage comes first. Coating a floor that ponds is treating a symptom.
How quickly can the area be reopened?
It depends on the system and the temperature. Rapid cure products take foot traffic in an hour or two and vehicles the same day. Standard resin systems generally need overnight. We tell you the cure times before you commit so you can plan around them.
Why do coatings fail?
Almost always preparation. A coating applied over a contaminated, polished or unsound substrate will lift within months however good the product is. Preparation is most of the labour on any coating job and it is what determines whether it lasts.
