Common questions
How thick does an industrial coating need to be?
Thin film coatings are measured in microns and suit light traffic. Heavy duty screeds are measured in millimetres and suit impact and constant MHE traffic. Using the first where you need the second is why floors fail.
Can it take thermal shock?
Polyurethane screeds handle thermal cycling and steam cleaning far better than epoxy. If your floor is washed down hot, that matters a great deal.
How long is the area out of use?
Typically two to four days including preparation and cure, so these are usually shutdown works. We plan the sequence so it fits the window available.
How quickly can the area be reopened?
It depends on the system and the temperature. Rapid cure products take foot traffic in an hour or two and vehicles the same day. Standard resin systems generally need overnight. We tell you the cure times before you commit so you can plan around them.
Why do coatings fail?
Almost always preparation. A coating applied over a contaminated, polished or unsound substrate will lift within months however good the product is. Preparation is most of the labour on any coating job and it is what determines whether it lasts.
