Common questions
Do escape routes need anti slip treatment?
There is no specific requirement, but your fire risk assessment considers whether the route is usable. An external steel stair that is slippery when wet is a legitimate finding.
What is photoluminescent marking?
Material that charges under normal lighting and glows when the lights go out, marking the route during a power failure. It is inexpensive and genuinely useful on internal escape routes.
Can you treat open mesh steel stairs?
Yes, with anti slip inserts or coatings designed for open mesh. Standard coatings are not appropriate on that substrate.
How quickly can the area be reopened?
It depends on the system and the temperature. Rapid cure products take foot traffic in an hour or two and vehicles the same day. Standard resin systems generally need overnight. We tell you the cure times before you commit so you can plan around them.
Why do coatings fail?
Almost always preparation. A coating applied over a contaminated, polished or unsound substrate will lift within months however good the product is. Preparation is most of the labour on any coating job and it is what determines whether it lasts.
