Common questions
Can a decorative finish be genuinely slip resistant?
Yes, if it is specified for it. Texture comes from the aggregate size and how it is bound, so a decorative finish can perform as well as a utilitarian one — but it has to be specified, not assumed.
Resin bound or resin bonded?
Bound gives a smoother, more decorative finish; bonded gives more texture and grip. For entrances where appearance matters most, bound; where the gradient or exposure is significant, bonded.
Will it stain?
Any porous finish can. Sealing helps, and choosing an aggregate that hides marking helps more. We will be honest about how a light coloured finish will look outside a busy entrance in two years.
How quickly can the area be reopened?
It depends on the system and the temperature. Rapid cure products take foot traffic in an hour or two and vehicles the same day. Standard resin systems generally need overnight. We tell you the cure times before you commit so you can plan around them.
Why do coatings fail?
Almost always preparation. A coating applied over a contaminated, polished or unsound substrate will lift within months however good the product is. Preparation is most of the labour on any coating job and it is what determines whether it lasts.
