Common questions
Why do earthworks quotes vary so much?
Because most of the cost is what you cannot see. Quotes vary on assumed dig depth, ground conditions and how much material is assumed to be reusable. We check levels and dig trial holes rather than guessing, which is why our figure tends to be the one that holds.
Can excavated material be reused on site?
Often, yes, and it saves a great deal on both disposal and imported fill. We test and classify rather than carting everything away as a default.
What happens if you hit contamination?
We stop, have it tested and give you the options and costs in writing before proceeding. Removing contaminated ground quietly and invoicing later is not how we work.
Do you have your own plant and operators?
Yes. Excavators, dumpers, rollers, breakers and attachments are ours, operated by directly employed teams, so we mobilise quickly rather than waiting on hire company availability.
Can you work on a live, occupied site?
Most of our work is on operational sites. We phase the works, segregate properly, plan traffic management around deliveries and pedestrians, and work nights or weekends where that is what it takes.
Is a site survey and quotation free?
Yes. Surveys and quotations are free and carry no obligation. We normally survey within a few working days and return a fixed price against a written scope on the same day.
Do you cover the whole of the UK?
Yes, and Ireland. Regional teams cover single sites and national portfolios, including multi site civils programmes running simultaneously across several regions.
